Customized Assistance for Robotic hand Enhancement

The objectives of the CARE project are:

  • Development of a 3D photogrammetric scanning system for the upper limb, for the acquisition and 3D reconstruction of the hand and forearm. Based on the 3D reconstruction, develop a new soft and customized exoskeleton for the hand that enables the development of innovative diagnostic methods and personalized therapies for hand rehabilitation.

  • Based on the 3D reconstruction, develop a new soft and customized exoskeleton for the hand that enables the development of innovative diagnostic methods and personalized therapies for hand rehabilitation.

Specifically, the CARE project aims to:

  • Improve the management and treatment of chronic-degenerative neurological diseases affecting the hand through the use of a safe and patient-customized wearable system.

  • Develop a hand body-structure assessment system that will enable intelligent monitoring of the pathology.
  • Pursue a One-Health approach by addressing the primary needs of a vulnerable segment of the population, helping people with disabilities regain hand functions, thereby improving their autonomy in daily activities and enhancing their social participation.

In terms of economic sustainability, the CARE project aims to increase the number of patients treated by physiotherapists, offering the opportunity to reduce waiting lists for healthcare treatments and lower costs compared to traditional approaches
