The objectives of the EVOLUTION project are:
Development of an integrated, non-invasive system for the treatment and monitoring of scoliotic pathologies based on 3D body scanning, thermographic imaging, additive manufacturing, and wearable sensor technologies. Development of a customized, intelligent orthopedic brace produced through high-speed and eco-sustainable 3D printing and equipped with integrated sensors for continuous monitoring.
Specifically, the EVOLUTION project aims to:
Improve the precision and effectiveness of scoliosis treatment through personalized orthopedic devices designed from accurate 3D anatomical data.
Reduce patient exposure to invasive diagnostic procedures, such as repeated radiographic exams, by introducing non-invasive imaging techniques for follow-up and monitoring. Enable continuous and objective monitoring of therapy adherence and effectiveness through sensorized orthoses and a digital tele-monitoring platform.
In terms of economic, environmental, and organizational sustainability, the EVOLUTION project aims to optimize orthopedic workflows, significantly reduce production times and energy consumption compared to traditional methods, lower material waste, and support scalable adoption of personalized and data-driven scoliosis care solutions.
